The mind does self-awareness by thinking, and we are very good at thinking. But I think these two can work together, by understanding why we are the way we are.
The brain is in charge of what happens when we think. The mind is where we are able to know what we think and how to change how we think. Self-awareness is when we can change our own behavior.
