You’re definitely not going to be able to buy an entire laptop with those 14 inches of screen space in a laptop case. I mean, seriously, it is impossible.
The PC market is in a bit of a bubble. Last year, Dell launched a laptop with 13 inches screen, and it looks like this year will also be a bubble. And now we’re talking about a laptop with 14 inches screen.
Yeah, that last one is a bit of a stretch, but 14 inches might still be too much. I mean, I know that a lot of people think that the iPad is a 14 inch device, and that is definitely not the case, but when you consider that the iPad has a 13 inch screen, you realize that 14 inches is way, way too much.
And now it looks like Dell is launching a new laptop with 14 inches screen. And of course, it’s not just about Dell; it’s also about the company’s product lines. And this is just a little too much to believe that the company is going to launch a laptop with 14 inches screen.
The story behind this laptop is that the team is working to make the Dell Inspiron 14 with a 12 inch screen. But when they tested it with a 12 inch screen, it made the mistake of not putting the screen in the back on one side, and not putting the hinge in the center on the other. That makes the laptop feel like it has more screen than the original laptop with the 13 inch screen.
I don’t know how much of this is marketing hype, but I can’t help thinking that Dell is trying to make the 14 inches laptop look like a 12 inch one. The problem is, Dell is too busy with other laptops in the same price range to really be able to make any meaningful changes to the 14 inch laptop.
Dell also doesn’t seem to be doing anything about the hinge. A lot of the Dell laptops are actually made with the hinge on the top which is very odd because Dell should have worked with that part of the laptop. I would put more thought into the 14 inch laptop’s hinge too.
Even though Dell does not seem to be working on the hinge, there are other factors that might be making the 14 inch laptop look like a 12 inch one. Dell and its partners have been struggling for years to keep the price of laptops down. A lot of people (including me) want to buy a 14 inch laptop so they can have the same size screen as a 12 inch. The problem is a lot of laptops with this screen size are going to be too expensive.
The problem is that this price is based on the fact that they are not using the Dell XPS keyboard that the Dell has. They are using a 14 inch keyboard and using a 13 inch one that is supposed to be more efficient than the 12 inch. Dell is trying to run a laptop with a 13 inch keyboard, but 14 inch laptops with a 13 inch keyboard are going to get much more expensive because they are not using the keyboard at all.
I am not saying that you shouldn’t use a 14 inch laptop. A 14 inch laptop is definitely the way to go. I am just saying that the problem is that Dell is making a trade-off that is not making customers any happier.
